It can be very difficult to find sympathy when you believe you may be suffering from Electrical Sensitivity. Many doctors are trained to believe it is a psychological condition, and as such information on what the symptoms are, what might trigger them and how they can be prevented can be hard to find.
Many of us are experiencing strange physical, psychological and sleep symptoms that are new. We go to our doctors and they don't know what to say and tell us it is psychological or stress related. Possibly 35% of the population may be electrosensitive and it is projected (in 2010) that perhaps 50% will be by 2017. Nothing will be done until people begin dropping in the streets. Europe recognizes electrosensitivity as a condition. Of course many other countries. as usual remain or are kept in the dark.

In Sweden EMF sensitivity (Electro-magnetic radiation) is recognized
as a disability and the government will paint your house with anti-radiation
paint if you need it.
If only one person in school in Sweden complains of the negative
effects of EMF radiation from WIFI,
it will be turned off and investigated.
Switzerland, Italy, Russia, China and other countries have exposure
limits THOUSANDS of times lower than in other countries such as
the UK.
In Salzburg (Austria) the government advises against WIFI in schools
altogether. The reality is we are living in what has now been called
an 'EM smog'. Whilst many people do not consciously notice the
effects of this, 'Electro-Hypersensitives' do.
This EM smog fills the air around us, penetrating every cell and
affecting the functioning of our mind and body. Cell phones and
WIFI have a similar frequency to microwaves, and we all know what
happens if you end up inside one of them. And I've heard that having
a WIFI router in your home is the equivalent of having a cell phone
tower in your living room! Really?
Despite all the evidence of the harmful effects of radiation, the WHO (The World Health Organization, have stated that "there are no known adverse health effects from low level, long term exposure". :(
ElectroSensitivity is a sensitivity to a source of electricity, for example mobile phones, computers, power lines electrical equipment. Symptoms are wide-ranging and can include skin problems, headaches, fatigue, fainting, light sensitivity, heart problems and much more. Electrical HyperSensitivity is a name given to those who are affected. It is unique from most other medical conditions in that each individual reacts in a different way with their own set of symptoms and sources that trigger them. This uniqueness makes it difficult for the medical profession to understand and accept, and as such, although very real, most countries do not officially recognize it as a disablement. "I wonder why?"

•Former Norway Prime Minister and Director-general of the World Health Organization Gro Harlem Brundtland suffers from electrosensitivity. Voted in 2004 as the 4th most influential European in the last 25 years behind Pope John Paul II, Mikhail Gorbachev and Margaret Thatcher, is reported to suffer from a sensitivity to both mobile phones and computers. . •In 1988, an Ericsson subsidiary company had 60 employees develop hyper-sensitivity to electricity after the installation of a mobile phone base station on the company roof. The company subsequently tried to hush the whole thing down, but received a $1,000,000 grant from a Swedish Working Life Fund to change the working environment. Many of those affected are still hypersensitive.Souce |
The Daily Mail brings us the story of Sarah Dacre who suffers terribly from a range of symptoms including “hair loss, sickness, high blood-pressure, digestive and memory problems, severe headaches and dizziness. ” Sarah believes her symptoms are caused by the effects of ‘electrosmog’ in our environment, the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) given out by mobile phones and Wi-Fi networks.
How common is electrosensitivity? : FAQs
Sarah is not the only person in this position. More and more people report suffering as a result of electrosmog. The comment section in the Mail article testifies to this. Support groups have been set up and campaigning groups, such a Powerwatch, are on the case.
Hundred upon hundreds of
scientific studies over the last 50 years have
consistently revealed that “invisible forces” of
the electromagnetic spectrum profoundly impact
every facet of biological regulation. These energies
include microwaves, radio frequencies, the visible

of force known as scalar energy. Specific frequencies
and patterns of electromagnetic radiation regulate
DNA, RNA and protein syntheses, alter protein

Many of the symptoms reported have a lot in common with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), and it is quite common for someone who suffers from one condition to suffer from the other. It seems quite sensible to theorise that both syndromes therefore may affect particularly susceptible members of the population. It may also be that there is a 'synergistic' effect; i.e. people develop symptoms in the presence of both (or multiple) environmental exposures, whereas only one such exposure would not provoke the symptoms. The Environmental Health Centre Dallas, reports that of 500 patients treated for MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity), 80% of them also have electrical sensitivities.
Is ElectroSensitivity recognized by the
medical profession and/or the authorities?
The World Health Organization admit that ElectroSensitivity is a "real
and sometimes disabling condition". However, most governments do
not yet recognize it as a physical disablement. Sadly, this is just as
much to do with the political implications of acknowledging that electricity
can have adverse health effects as it is to do with the fact that it
is a new condition and not very well understood.
Sweden is the only country so far which officially recognizes it as a 'Physical Impairment'.
Do you have any of these these "The reported symptoms of EHS include headache, fatigue, stress, sleep disturbances, skin symptoms like prickling, burning sensations and rashes, pain and ache in muscles and many other health problems. Recently a group of people in Europe as a whole and in the USA have reported general and severe symptoms such as headache, fatigue, tinnitus, dizziness, memory deficits, irregular heart beat, and whole-body skin symptoms Whatever its cause, EHS symptoms are a real and sometimes a disabling problem for the affected persons." |
Generally called electrosensitivity or EHS for short, the condition manifests itself in sufferers as skin sensitivity and blemishing, light sensitivity, fatigue, high blood pressure, headaches, joint pain, dizziness, and a whole array of associated symptoms.
Europe's top environmental watchdog is calling for immediate action to reduce exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi, mobile phones and their masts. It suggests that delay could lead to a health crisis similar to those caused by asbestos, smoking and lead in petrol The warning, from the EU's European Environment Agency (EEA) follows an international scientific review which concluded that safety limits set for the radiation are "thousands of times too lenient", and an official British report last week which concluded that it could not rule out the development of cancers from using mobile phones. Professor Jacqueline McGlade, the EEA's executive director, said yesterday: "Recent research and reviews on the long-term effects of radiations from mobile telecommunications suggest that it would be prudent for health authorities to recommend actions to reduce exposures, especially to vulnerable groups, such as children." In 2002, a questionnaire survey of 2,072 people in California found that the prevalence of self-reported electromagnetic hypersensitivity within the sample group was 3% (95% CI 2.8–3.68%), with electromagnetic hypersensitivity being defined as being very sensitive to getting near electrical appliances, computers, or power lines" (response rate 58.3%). Levallois, P; R Neutra, G Lee, L Hristova (August 2002).
A similar questionnaire survey from the same year in Stockholm County (Sweden), found a 1.5% prevalence of self-reported electromagnetic hypersensitivity within the sample group, with electromagnetic hypersensitivity being defined as "hypersensitivity or allergy to electric or magnetic fields" (response rate 73%).Hillert, L; N Berglind, BB Arnetz, T Bellander (February 2002).

Iin Sweden, electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is an officially fully recognized functional impairment (i.e., it is not regarded as a disease) The electrohypersensitive people have their own handicap organization, The Swedish Association for the Electrohypersensitive. This organization is included in the Swedish Disability Federation (Handikappförbundens SamarbetsOrgan; HSO). HSO is the unison voice of the Swedish disability associations towards the government, the parliament, and national authorities, and is a cooperative body that today consists of 43 national disability organizations (where The Swedish Association for the ElectroSensitive is 1 of these 43 organizations) with all together about 500,000 individual members. Some people who are electrically sensitive complain that they have a rapid or irregular heart beat and feel chest pressure or pain (Eltiti, 2007). We conducted a “proof of concept” study to determine if we could measure heart rate changes caused by microwave radiation with real-time monitoring. We found that some individuals developed a rapid or an irregular heart beat when exposed to pulsed microwaves (from a cordless phone base station) at levels considered safe by the WHO, FCC, and Health Canada (Havas et al. 2010).
"Doctors do not know the reason for this disturbing trend (Dencheve et al. 2010)" One aspect that has been considered is the increasing exposure to microwave radiation from mobile phones, cell phone antennas, and wireless technologies in the home and school environment.
"In November 2010, two schools in the Barrie area were monitored for microwave radiation. What is particularly disturbing about the results obtained is that of the 20 rooms measured 17 of the classrooms had levels at or above the levels that caused heart irregularities among adults in our heart rate variability study (0.003 milliwatts/cm2) (30 mW/m2 , 3.36 V/m). But even more disturbing is that levels of microwave radiation exceeded Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 guideline near a computer in one classroom (at 13.42 W/m2 , 71.1 V/m) (1.342 vs 1 milliW/cm2)! Common initiators associated with the development of electrical hypersensitivity which have been proposed are:
Living,
or working near overhead power lines, substations,
underground cables or electrified railways
Working
in environments with high EMFs (including photocopiers which
also give off ozone)
Radar
Use
of electrical appliances
Electric
shocks or lightning strikes
Dental
amalgam fillings
Chemical
exposures (Paint, pesticides, insecticides, lice & flea
treatments, bleaches and cleansers, field and garden sprays,
furniture and carpet treatments, wood glue and varnish).
Many of these have been found to cause neurological damage,
which may then be made worse by EMF
exposure.

It makes little difference what the initial provocation is; environmental exposure of the immune system by chemicals inside the home or outside, pesticides, or electromagnetic fields, once a person is exposed to any of these, it seems the likelihood of reacting to all of them increases dramatically.
"Make no mistake about
it, RF radiation is pollution- electrosmog--
and it is deadly.
The huge amounts of RF radiation now blanketing
our entire region, are effecting every living
thing, and we have no doubt that thousands
are currently experiencing the ill effects,
as new
health issues are being caused by the radiation
but also every existing condition is being
worsened. We expect a rise in numbers of doctor
visits
and hospitalizations due to the presence of
so much all- permeating radiation.
Many can hear the sound of it , a high pitched piercing whine, hiss or ringing sound that is often misdiagnosed as tinnitus (but it goes away when shielded with certain metals such as aluminum). Children can hear high pitches better than adults, and of course so can dogs and other animals. It must be a problem for them as it is a 24-7 sound never ceasing. " |

Questions and Answers - EMF in the Workplace
The Reported Symptoms
Little is known about the mechanism behind the condition, who is susceptible and why there is such a broad range of symptoms. This is partly due to insufficient funding for scientists to study it further and great opposition from medical establishments and governments. It's also partly due to the fact that every individual is different and reacts in a different way, making it a very difficult subject to study

Are You Electrosensitive? Read These Testimonials
It's believed that the first case was reported by the inventor, physicist & mechanical engineer Nikola Tesla. Described by many as a 'genius', and recognized as one of the greatest technological scientists of all time, Tesla suffered late on in his life from a very severe illness believed to be due to exposure to high levels of electromagnetic fields throughout his life
The Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiography of Tesla, written by his close friend John O'neill described his extreme sensitivities:
"To doctor's he appeared at death's door. The strange manifestations he exhibited attracted the attention of a renowned physician, who declared that medical science could do nothing to aid him. One of the symptoms of the illness was an acute sensitivity of all the sense-organs. His senses had always been extremely keen, but this sensitivity was now so tremendously exaggerated that the effects were a form of torture. The ticking of a watch three rooms away sounded like the beat of hammers on an anvil. The vibration of ordinary city traffic, when transmitted through a chair or bench, pounded through his body. It was necessary to place the legs of his bed on rubber pads to eliminate the vibrations. Ordinary speech sounded like thunderous pandemonium. The slightest touch had the mental effect of a tremendous blow. A beam of sunlight shining on him produced the effect of an internal explosion. In the dark he could sense an object at a distance of a dozen feet by a peculiar creepy sensation in his forehead. His whole body was constantly wracked by twitches and tremors. His pulse, he said, would vary from a few feeble throbs per minute to more than a hundred and fifty. Throughout this mysterious illness he was fighting with a powerful desire to recover his normal condition. ".
Alzheimers
Evidence that there is increased risk E.Sobel PhD and others at the Department of Preventative Medicine, University of Southern California School of Medicine,Los Angeles, conducted a study in 1995 on 326 people with Alzheimers and 152 control people with other mental degenerative problems looking at exposure to electromagnetic fields during work (3).They were able to stratify the exposure to high, medium or low. The study focussed on workers using electric motors considerably eg. machinists, seamstresses. Principal findings were: 1: significantly increased risk of Alzheimers in both sexes with high and medium exposure to electromagnetic fields. (Odds ratio 2.45, CI 1.11-5.37, p<0.02). 2: significantly increased risk for males with high and medium exposure to electromagnetic fields. (Odds ratio 3, CI 1.04-8.7, p<0.05) Powerlines Cell Phones and Wifi A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Watch the videos |
What can I do
The best way to mitigate symptoms if you suffer from EHS is to avoid exposure to them.
Also, many sufferers report feeling hot, or have skin rashes. Here is an infrared photo to add more evidence to show the physical effects are more likely to be real, rather than imagined.
